Parking and traffic fines tracker for van fleets

Parking and traffic fines tracker for van fleets is a SaaS idea for operations managers at trades, delivery and hire firms with 5 to 50 vans, priced to test at $3 per van a month, with a $29 minimum. Fines arrive by post weeks after the day, addressed to the company. With it, office staff log each fine from the letter, match it to whoever drove the van, and get reminders before each deadline.

. A starting point we wrote, not market research: run the 7-day test before you build.

What problem does it solve?

Fines arrive by post weeks after the day, addressed to the company. Nobody can say who drove, the cheaper early-payment window passes, and the charge grows.

Why now: Camera enforcement of bus lanes, parking and clean-air zones keeps spreading, and each fine has its own deadline.

What do they use today?

Most firms keep the letters in a folder or a pile on the desk, and work out the driver by checking rotas and asking around. Deadlines go on a wall calendar, when someone remembers.

How does it work?

When a fine letter arrives, the office logs it with a photo of the letter and checks who drove that van on that day. An email goes to that driver asking them to confirm the fine or dispute it, and reminders warn the office before the early-payment and driver-naming deadlines. Each fine is marked paid, disputed or recharged, and a monthly report shows where they all stand.

What goes in the first version?

  • Log a fine with a photo of the letter
  • A simple record of who drove each van each day
  • Reminders before early-payment and driver-naming deadlines
  • An email asking the driver to confirm or dispute
  • Paid, disputed and recharged status, with a monthly report

Who pays, and how much?

Who pays
Operations managers at trades, delivery and hire firms with 5 to 50 vans
Price to test
$3 per van a month, with a $29 minimum

Pricing per van follows the fleet, since every fine belongs to a van and bigger fleets collect more. A minimum monthly charge covers the smallest fleets, and the tool replaces the folder of letters.

How to test it in 7 days

  1. 1Ask five fleet or office managers how they handle fines and when they last missed a deadline.
  2. 2Read van operator groups on Facebook for posts about fines and unknown drivers.
  3. 3Offer one firm a free month and log their current pile of fines together.

Where to find the first customers

  • Van fleet and trades business groups on Facebook and LinkedIn
  • Fleet management and vehicle leasing companies
  • Trade associations for builders, electricians and couriers

What are the risks?

  • Rules differ by country and type of fine, so deadlines must be easy to configure.
  • Vehicle tracking suites may add fine handling, so link to them rather than compete.

You are in a fresh copy of the shipanysaas starter kit, a pnpm and Turborepo monorepo: the Next.js web app is in apps/web and the Supabase database, with its migrations, in apps/web/supabase. Help me build the first version of Parking and traffic fines tracker for van fleets.

Read AGENTS.md first, then the AGENTS.md in every folder you work in: the kit's rules there win over your defaults. When a skill in .agents/skills (also in .claude/skills and .cursor/skills) matches a task, use it.

## The product
- What it does: Office staff log each fine from the letter, match it to whoever drove the van, and get reminders before each deadline.
- Who pays: Operations managers at trades, delivery and hire firms with 5 to 50 vans
- Their problem: Fines arrive by post weeks after the day, addressed to the company. Nobody can say who drove, the cheaper early-payment window passes, and the charge grows.
- Price to test: $3 per van a month, with a $29 minimum (a plan in apps/web/config/billing.config.ts)

## Build only this first version
1. Log a fine with a photo of the letter
2. A simple record of who drove each van each day
3. Reminders before early-payment and driver-naming deadlines
4. An email asking the driver to confirm or dispute
5. Paid, disputed and recharged status, with a monthly report

## Already in the kit: reuse it, never rebuild it
- Teams and roles: team accounts with members, roles and invitations
- Billing: Stripe or Lemon Squeezy subscriptions, per seat or usage-based, and one-off payments
- Emails: transactional email through Resend or Nodemailer
- In-app notifications: a notifications bell in the web app

## New code it needs
- Fine log with letter photos and deadlines
- Van and driver day records
- Driver confirmations and recharge tracking

## How to work
1. Plan first: list the database tables (with row-level security, so each team only sees its own rows), the pages and the server actions for the first feature. Then stop and wait for my OK.
2. Build one feature at a time with the kit's own UI and form components, with a migration for every schema change and user-facing text in the translation files.
3. After each feature, run the verification steps in AGENTS.md, fix what they find, and tell me what you built and what comes next.

## Rules
- Ask me before you add a dependency, delete a file, or change sign-in, billing or the admin panel.
- Leave the parts of the kit this product doesn't use as they are.

Done when every first-version feature works for a signed-in team and the AGENTS.md checks pass.
