# Visit reports for pet-sitting businesses

Visit reports for pet-sitting businesses is a SaaS idea for pet-sitting and dog-walking businesses with 2 to 20 sitters, priced to test at $29 a month per business, plus $4 per sitter. Owners want proof their pet was walked and fed, so sitters text photos from personal phones. With it, sitters send owners a photo report after every visit, and the business keeps a record of every walk and feed.

## What problem does it solve?

Owners want proof their pet was walked and fed, so sitters text photos from personal phones. The business has no record, and complaints are hard to settle.

**Why now:** Owners are used to live updates from delivery and ride apps, and expect the same for their pets.

## What do they use today?

Most sitters send the owner a quick message, and the manager keeps client details in a notebook, a spreadsheet or someone’s memory. Care instructions travel by phone call or a note left on the door.

## How does it work?

Each morning a sitter opens the visit list on their phone and reads the care notes for the first pet, such as feeding amounts. After the visit the sitter takes a photo and types a short note, and the owner gets an email with the report. The business keeps each report in that pet’s visit history, so when a complaint comes in the manager can see what happened and when.

## What goes in the first version?

- Each sitter’s visit list on the phone
- A photo report with notes after each visit
- An email to the owner with the report
- A visit history per pet
- Care notes per pet

## Who pays, and how much?

- **Who pays:** Pet-sitting and dog-walking businesses with 2 to 20 sitters
- **Price to test:** $29 a month per business, plus $4 per sitter

One base price per business, plus a small price for each sitter, grows only when the team does. Owners already think of their costs per sitter, so the charge is easy to understand.

## How to test it in 7 days

1. Ask five local pet-sitting businesses how sitters report visits.
2. Read pet-sitting business groups on Facebook for complaints.
3. Offer a free month to three businesses.

## Where to find the first customers

- Pet-sitting business groups on Facebook
- Local pet shops and vets
- Pet-care franchise owners

## What are the risks?

- Big pet-sitting marketplaces have their own apps, so aim at independents.
- Sitters change often, so onboarding must be quick.

## How to build it on shipanysaas

4 of the parts it needs are already in the kit, the phone app with the All-in plan. Get the kit, open it in Claude Code, Codex or Cursor, and paste the starting prompt.

**Already in the kit:** Teams and roles, Billing, Emails, Phone app with All-in

**You build:**

- Visit lists and photo reports
- Owner report emails
- Care notes per pet

[Get the kit](https://www.shipanysaas.com/pricing)

### The starting prompt

```text
You are in a fresh copy of the shipanysaas starter kit, a pnpm and Turborepo monorepo: the Next.js web app is in apps/web and the Supabase database, with its migrations, in apps/web/supabase; with the All-in plan, the Expo phone app is in apps/native. Help me build the first version of Visit reports for pet-sitting businesses.
Read AGENTS.md first, then the AGENTS.md in every folder you work in: the kit's rules there win over your defaults. When a skill in .agents/skills (also in .claude/skills and .cursor/skills) matches a task, use it.
## The product
- What it does: Sitters send owners a photo report after every visit, and the business keeps a record of every walk and feed.
- Who pays: Pet-sitting and dog-walking businesses with 2 to 20 sitters
- Their problem: Owners want proof their pet was walked and fed, so sitters text photos from personal phones. The business has no record, and complaints are hard to settle.
- Price to test: $29 a month per business, plus $4 per sitter (a plan in apps/web/config/billing.config.ts)
## Build only this first version
1. Each sitter’s visit list on the phone
2. A photo report with notes after each visit
3. An email to the owner with the report
4. A visit history per pet
5. Care notes per pet
## Already in the kit: reuse it, never rebuild it
- Teams and roles: team accounts with members, roles and invitations
- Billing: Stripe or Lemon Squeezy subscriptions, per seat or usage-based, and one-off payments
- Emails: transactional email through Resend or Nodemailer
- Phone app: an iPhone, iPad and Android app on the same backend (All-in plan)
## New code it needs
- Visit lists and photo reports
- Owner report emails
- Care notes per pet
## How to work
1. Plan first: list the database tables (with row-level security, so each team only sees its own rows), the pages and the server actions for the first feature. Then stop and wait for my OK.
2. Build one feature at a time with the kit's own UI and form components, with a migration for every schema change and user-facing text in the translation files.
3. After each feature, run the verification steps in AGENTS.md, fix what they find, and tell me what you built and what comes next.
## Rules
- Ask me before you add a dependency, delete a file, or change sign-in, billing or the admin panel.
- Leave the parts of the kit this product doesn't use as they are.
- If apps/native is not in your copy (the Starter plan), build the web app only.
Done when every first-version feature works for a signed-in team and the AGENTS.md checks pass.
